House League
The AGSL House League has two seasons per year, Fall and Spring. Fall House League is a developmental season with emphasis on building and improving core skills. The Spring House League season is a competitive season with team rankings and a league tournament to finish the season. The AGSL House League is intended for girls who want to play at a recreational level. Typically our House League teams practice 1-2 times per week and have 1 - 2 games per week. Each level of house league introduces new rules and new challenges based on previously built foundations, for example:
6U will have 1 game, usually on Saturdays where each girl has a chance to hit each inning and there are no fielding outs. At 6U the girls hit off a tee or via coach pitch. This is a developmental time for both Spring and Fall.
8U and up have 2 games per week, usually one on a week night and one on a Saturday. 8U players hit off a pitching machine that is run by a coach. There are fielding outs at this level.
10U begins kid-pitch and players may start to specialize in certain positions such as pitcher and catcher. At 10U base stealing is introduced, though there are no walks due to balls thrown by the kid-pitcher.
Once the girls move up to 12U, players may steal home, be walked to 1st on bad pitches, etc.
If you have an older player who is just starting to play softball don't worry, there is no wrong time to start playing! Our volunteer coaches are here to help your daughters build confidence, independence, and softball skills, and our league builds lasting friendships at all ages.
