Q. Who should attend the evaluation sessions?

A. Players are required to attend a tryout/evaluation if:

(1) A player is moving up to the next age division;

(2) A player decides she wants to play for another team;

(3) Players who did not play in Spring 2009;

(4) New players to AGSL.

(5) 6U Tee-ball and 8U players are not required to attend tryouts

 

Q. What age group will my daughter be placed? There are 6 age brackets: 6U Tee-ball, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U & 18U.

A. Age group assignments are made according to the player's age at the end of the previous calendar year (12/31/2009).
If you wish to request an exception please indicate the age group you are requesting along with the rationale for the request. The Board of Directors reserves the right to approve or deny requests.

Q. When and where are the evaluation sessions?

A. Evaluations will be held on February 20, 2010,  at Diamond Sports Training (45686 Oakbrook Ct., Sterling, VA).

Player Evaluation Schedule:
1:30 - 3:30 Girls rising up to 10U
Last Names ending in A - M arrive at 1:30
Last Names ending in N - Z arrive at 2:30

3:45 - 5:00 Girls rising up to 12U
Last Names ending in A - M arrive at 3:45
Last Names ending in N - Z arrive at 4:30

5:15 - 7:00 Girls rising to 14U
All arrive at 5:15

 

Q. When does the 2010 Spring season begin?

A. Spring Registration opens in December 2, 2009 and runs through February 15, 2010. Late registration is available through March 15th.  There will be an evaluation of players on February 20, 2010.  After evaluation, the coaches will draft players onto their rosters on March 20th and begin practicing in late March, with the season beginning in mid April.
Expect 2-3 weeks of pre-season practices beginning late March. Games will begin on April 14th and end on approximately June 9th.  All divisions except 6U Tee-ball and 8U will also have playoffs after the regular season ends
You can expect to play 10-12 games depending on the weather.

Q. How often do the teams practice/play?

A. Games are scheduled twice a week, one week night and Saturday morning.
Practices during the season depend on the coach.  For Spring 2010, the games are tentatively scheduled for the following days:

6U - Tuesdays and Saturdays
8U - Mondays and Saturdays
10U - Tuesdays and Saturdays
12U - Wednesdays and Saturdays
14U - Wednesday and Saturdays
18U - Thursdays and Sundays

Q. Where will the games be played?

A. Games are played in Ashburn and Sterling. For the older age groups (12U, 14U & 18U) games may also be played in Sterling, Herndon, Leesburg & Western Loudoun.
