Shooting Stars 16U Gold - Fall Challenge 18U Champions
The Ashburn Shooting Stars Gold 16U won the Fall Challenge 18U Bracket sponsored by the USSSA in Sterling, VA.  The Shooting Stars Gold 16U played up in the 18's bracket and went 7-0 for the weekend.  The Shooting Stars Gold ripped off 49 runs for the weekend and gave up 11 runs.  The Shooting Stars Gold 16U earned a USSSA World Series 18U Berth.

Shooting Stars 16U Gold - Breast Cancer Awareness 18U Runners Up
The Shooting Stars Gold 16U played up in the 18's Bracket in the NSA Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament in Sterling, VA.  We went 4-2 for the weekend and came up short in the last inning of the championship game. The Shooting Stars Gold did a great job for their first 18s tournament finishing as the runners up.  NSA awarded the Shooting Stars Gold 16U a NSA World Series Berth in the 18's.

Shooting Stars 16U Black - Halloween Classic Champions
The Ashburn Shooting Stars Black 16U won the annual Halloween Classic sponsored by the LLGSL in Sterling, VA.  The team shut out two teams on Saturday and their 3rd game was cancelled due to rain.  On Sunday, the Stars won 4 more games to take the championship title.  The team came from behind in all 3 of the final 3 games to win the tournament.  The team displayed great clutch hitting, pitching and defense, getting key contributions from all players.

Shooting Stars 14U Gold - Place 3rd at NSA Indian Summer Blast.
The Shooting Stars 14U Gold went 4-1 at the NSA Indian Summer Blast in Charlottesville, VA, for a 3rd place finish and a berth to the 2010 NSA World Series. Saturday saw the Shooting Stars "jump on top" in all three games with great production from the top of the lineup. Coupled with dominating pitching and solid defense all day, the Shooting Stars won all three games by a combined 16-3 score and staked themselves to a number one seed and a first round bye in the championship round. In the first bracket game on Sunday, they picked up where they left off. After giving up a single run in the top of the first, the bats took over in the bottom half, scoring 4 runs on 5 hits en route to an 8-1 win. In the semi-finals, the Shooting Stars showed their character in a matchup everyone agrees should have been for the championship. Despite being behind the whole game, the team continued to battle back, at one point trimming a 5-run lead down to 2.

Shooting Stars 14U Black - ASA VA State Champs
The Ashburn Shooting Stars Black 14U placed 1st in the ASA Virginia State Championship Tournament in Lynchburg, VA on June 13th and 14th  earning a berth to ASA Nationals.  They won 5 straight games on their road to the championship game against the Virginia Legends (White) which they defeated 8 to 3.  The team will be playing in the ASA National Tournament in Marietta, GA the last week in July.

Shooting Stars 14U Black - Cherry Blossom 2009 Champs
The Ashburn Shooting Stars Black 14U won their 2009 Spring Season Tournament debut – the PONY Cherry Blossom Tournament – held this past weekend at Wakefield Park.  The Shooting Stars Black went 7-0 in the tournament, winning 2 of the games in exciting fashion.  In the quarter finals, they beat Lakeshore Lightning Teal 1-0 scoring the only run of the game in the bottom of the 7th.  They also defeated the Shamrocks 2 to 1 in the Championship Game with an exciting rally during the bottom of the 7th.

Shooting Stars 14U White
14U White Stars take home the Championship trophy from the USSSA St. Patrick’s Day Open tournament on March 21-22, 2009. This was the first tournament of the season for the team, and they faced a strong field of nine other teams from central, eastern, and northern Virginia. The Shooting Stars were 2-1 after the first day of pool play, earning a bye in the first round of the championship bracket. They won three consecutive games on championship Sunday, outscoring the opposition 16-5, behind strong pitching, defense, and hitting. For the tournament, the team batted .362, led by four players with averages of .500 or better.

Shooting Stars 14U Black win May Madness
On May 9th and 10th, the Ashburn Shootings Stars Black 14U played up (16U division) and took first place in the USSSA May Madness Tournament held at Fairland Regional Park in Laurel, MD.  The road to the Championship Game featured 4 pool play wins, including 2 shut outs.  The Stars took the title from the Churchville Lightning in an exciting come from behind rally during the bottom of the 7th to tie the game forcing an ITB.  Their defense held the runner and the offense was able to get it done and move the Shooting Stars’ runner in to score for a 6 to 5 ITB victory.
