AGSL sponsors Shooting Stars Academy, an 8U through 18U year round program whose mission is to challenge players through skills training and practice, with a focus on effort and teamwork. The Shooting Stars Academy program is not intended to be a forum for every player. This is designed for those players who are dedicated to furthering their experience and developing their skills on a year round basis. The Shooting Stars Academy program participates in county league double headers during the fall, spring, and summer seasons and at least two sanctioned tournaments during each of these seasons. This program is intended to provide an additional level of play for qualified girls from the AGSL Spring House League. Shooting Stars Academy players must play in the AGSL House League during the fall and spring seasons. Tryouts are required.
- Be registered on a AGSL house team.
- Play in tournaments when selected by Shooting Stars Academy coaching staff (tryouts are required).
- Shooting Stars Academy coaches will conduct 1 additional practice during the fall and spring AGSL house seasons.
- Practices during the summer will occur at the Shooting Stars Academy coach’s discretion.
- Practice Fields will be provided by AGSL.
Each Shooting Stars Academy team is permitted to name one Head Coach (selected by AGSL Board) and one Assistant Coach (approved by the AGSL Board) prior to the start of the Shooting Stars Academy Tryouts.
The league will provide insurance for each team. AGSL will supply Shooting Stars Academy Head Coaches with team equipment commensurate with that supplied to AGSL House League teams (Shooting Stars Academy Head Coaches who are also House League Head Coaches will be expected to use their House League issued equipment for Shooting Stars Academy also). Practice fields will be provided by AGSL.
If you have additional questions or are interested in coaching a Shooting Stars Academy team please contact John Lawler via the AGSL website under the Board of Directors tab.
