The Ashburn Girls Softball League supports recreational and tournament-level fast-pitch softball for girls in the Ashburn, VA area. The recreational league plays in the spring and fall for the 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U and 18U age groups. The tournament-lev
We are excited to announce that 2020 Fall Registration is officially OPEN! We have been in constant contact with the County, other leagues and the umpires association and all signs are pointing to us to being able to return to the diamond for our 2020 Fall House League season! Obviously this is a very fluid situation and we do expect that there will be some restrictions on practice and play but we are already working through those with our travel teams right now and anticipate being able to full comply with and work together with the County to get our members back out on the field this Fall!
A Few Notes on Fall Registration:
For returning players, if you chose to apply your Spring 2020 registration fees to your Fall registration, please use the code that was provided earlier this evening which will activate and apply your reserved funds.
We are hoping to introduce a lot of new girls to the game this Fall. Softball provides a great opportunity to get out and socialize with friends and neighbors alike all while learning life long skills. After the past few months, we can all attest that the isolation that our kids felt was real and impacted them in ways that nobody could have predicted. Softball is one of the best outlets to build life long friendships and the Fall season offers so many opportunities for that! If you are new to the game, we would love to see you out there! To our current members, we know that you can not wait to get back out there. Please reach out to your friends and neighbors and let them know about your experiences with the game and AGSL!
Registration is set to close July 31 so please act fast!
Over the past year, with the help and support of our members, we have refreshed our equipment, replaced the turf in the batting cages, upgraded uniforms, offered free gloves to our 6u players, kept registration fees constant and proudly donated hundreds of meals and discount cards to local healthcare workers and first responders. All of this was possible only because of the great fundraising efforts of our members. AGSL has prided itself on being good stewards for our members and in return our members have consistently supported our fundraising efforts. It is this level of mutual trust and understanding that allowed us to offer full refunds or applications of Spring fees immediately as the spring season was cancelled. We did not hesitate to split hairs over costs and refund amounts and instead strove to be one less frustration during difficult times. We know that these past few months have impacted everyone in different ways and as a result we have decided to forego our usual fundraising efforts for the Fall season. There will be no mandatory fundraiser this Fall. We are looking into a platform to allow members to voluntarily donate to the league if they would like to help us replace the funds we have been expending but we are also focused on keeping the cost of access to the league, the fields, and the fun as low as possible as we all continue down this road of recovery.
As always, we are looking for volunteer coaches to help us grow the love of the game in our players. Through the generosity of Kevin Bednoski, Head Coach at Riverside High School, in conjunction with our Director of Coaches, Rodney Ortiz, we ensure that experienced and rookie coaches alike get top notch training and can approach coaching a team with confidence and a passion for teaching and finding the joy that is often missing from youth sports today. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Rodney Ortiz at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you all very much for your patience and support over these past months! Have a safe and healthy remainder of the Summer. We can't wait to see everyone back on the diamond in a few short months!
COVID-19 and 2020 Spring Season Update and Final Determination
Dear AGSL Family:
Thank you for your patience as we have examined options and
contingencies for the Spring 2020 House Season. Late yesterday
afternoon we received an email from Loudoun County Parks and Rec
stating that they still had no idea when fields would re-open at this
time and would keep us abreast of any developments. At this time, we
are forced to consider that late April (coinciding with the
termination of the Governor’s Executive Order) is the earliest
possible date that access to fields will be restored. Based upon this
presumption, the AGSL Board of Directors met last evening and
determined that it does not appear that the spring season will be able
to be played, even on a modified schedule. While this decision is
disappointing, we felt it was imperative to make this determination
(and to do so quickly) in the best interests of the League and its
members. While other options may present themselves as things
continue to develop that allow for some softball related activities in
May and June, AGSL has made the decision to proceed with canceling the
2020 Spring House Season at this time. Should other opportunities
present themselves, we will reach out to our members about the
possibility of workouts, clinics, etc. Further information on the
current pitching and catching clinics will be provided shortly from
Based upon this determination, during its call last evening, and in
concert with a call with our coaches this evening, the League has
developed a planned course of action moving forward. As background,
all team uniforms have been purchased and delivered for the spring
season as have all fundraiser cards; however, county field fees have
not been paid and umpire expenses will not be being incurred. We
decided it was best to present Members with two options in regards to
registration fees. First, any player registered for the Spring 2020
House Season can ask for their registration fees to be applied to the
Fall 2020 House Season, in full. Alternatively, any player registered
for the Spring 2020 House Season can ask for their registration fees
to be refund, in full (6U - $110; 8U - $165; 10U - $165; 12U - $165;
13U+ - $165). The League will bear the cost of uniforms and attempt
to keep teams together as much as possible for the Fall 2020 House
Season to help mitigate these costs. Fundraiser cards are valid
through May 31, 2021. Once social gathering and distancing
regulations are relaxed, we will arrange for a time for the cards to
be picked up by Members. Alternatively, you can choose to have your
cards donated to first responders and INOVA Loudoun Hospital.
We have asked your coaches for help in reaching out to each team and
determining how each family would like to proceed. You will be
receiving an email from your coach shortly asking whether you would
like your registration fees applied or refunded and whether you would
like your fundraiser cards distributed or donated. Please reply to
this email promptly so that we can begin this process as soon as
possible as we expect it to take some time. If you do not notify your
coach of your decision on or before April 6, 2020, your registration
fees will be applied to the Fall 2020 Season and your fundraiser cards
will be donated. We will then process the applications and refunds
beginning in the first week of April.
Thank you again for your patience in allowing us to determine if
alternatives could be utilized. We are sad to see the season come to
a close before it ever opened, but the health and safety of our
players, parents, coaches and fans are our largest concern right now.
Please continue to stay safe and if you have any questions, please

In cases of inclement weather, Loudoun County's website and app are available to check field status. Visit www.loudoun.gov/fieldstatus for an updated list of status by field. Rainoutline.com is also available for iPhone and Android users. The app includes the ability to mark your favorite fields and receive notifications of closures on your phone. If you have practice at the batting cages and Trailside is closed, the cages are closed as well. The lightning and thunder policy for AGSL is as follows: If lightning is seen or thunder is heard from the ball field, the game will be stopped immediately. All coaches and players must leave the field of play and the surrounding area. Play cannot resume until 30 minutes after the last lightning sighting or sound of thunder. Weather delay time is considered game clock time and counts toward game time limits. If a game is suspended due to inclement weather, the game will proceed at a later date with the same score, game situation, and time as when the game was stopped. If a game is canceled or called before it is an official game, the home team Head Coach shall notify the
within 48 hours. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture based on the decision by the Board of Directors. The home team Head Coach is responsible for rescheduling all make up games with the opposing team as soon as possible. All rescheduled games must be coordinated with our scheduler.
